This blog is a product of the Critical Making class at the iSchool at the University of Toronto. It documents the progress, pitfalls and ideas related to our final project, which aims to create a wearable technology.

Our project, iKu575 aims to explore the relationship of people to their environment and if it is, or can be mediated by it. As well it challenges the notions of technology as primarily work related by using it to record the mundane history of a person’s daily activities through environmental sensors.

iKu575 uses three sensors, light, sound and temperature, embedded into a jacket, to record the ambient environment. Using those collected values it generates a haiku from pre-determined strings which is then posted to a twitter account.
